I drew this for wen_renee's birthday on livejournal and was inspired to draw Alphonse since the sequel to A Dream starts out with Al (but I have him both his limbs ;>>) and I just had to the idea to do fireflies and summer (maybe since I'm craving summer in all this temperate weather).

Anyway, drew it with fireflies and a night sky in mind. I hope it turned out okay, since Al has always been hard for me to draw. I spent half an hour on his mouth and expression and settled on this. I still see some mistakes, but overall I'm pleased with it.

4-6 hours in Photoshop, but more like 6 or 7. CS2 + Wacom tablet. I hope you enjoy ^_^

Aw, he's so cute...

I especially love his hands. I always have so much trouble with those and you executed them wonderfully. The foreshortening on his left hand is especially awesome!
